Marlene Favela Biography

Marlene Favela grew up in Mexico as the fourth of five children. At an early age, she had fame on the brain and envisioned a career in the spotlight. Acting was her preferred career of choice because she liked to watch characters on TV and films and imagine what their lives were like. Marlene Favela also had a soft spot for soap operas, but before she could realize her dream, she had a few more stops to make. One of them was at the Centro de Educacion Artistica de Televisa in Mexico City, where she studied television acting. Because of her exotic looks, Marlene also started modeling, posing for corporate heavyweights like Coke, Sears and Avon.

With her modeling and acting training, Marlene Favela entered the soap opera realm in the early 2000s. After roles on shows like La casa en la playa and La intrusa, Marlene Favela garnered attention for playing Rosaura Rios in 2002 on Gata salvaje, the first miniseries to be shot in the United States and then released in Mexico. The success of the series landed Marlene a string of roles, with her 2005 role in Contra viento y marea being one of the most famous. In it, she played an abuse survivor who winds up in the middle of a passionate love triangle.

The ensuing acclaim only pushed Marlene Favela towards more TV work, and Zorro soon followed, as did a guest spot on Ugly Betty. She also had a memorable and villainous role in the English-language sci-fi sequel Species: The Awakening. With Marlene Favela's small screen career solidified, she earned a silver screen role in the 2008 Dominican Republic film Playball. It's obvious that more movie roles will soon follow.
