Kerri Kasem Biography

Kerri Kasem was born on June 6, 1978, in London, England, to American Top 40 broadcaster Casey Kasem and his first wife, Linda, a political fundraiser. She grew up in the Kasems' Hollywood home with her brother Mike and sister Julie, with whom she organized and "directed" plays for the family throughout their childhood.

Following her high school graduation, Kerri moved to Santa Cruz, California, to become an instructor in the fine art of bungee jumping. She soon returned home to Los Angeles to study acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and broadcasting at the Academy of Radio Broadcasting. In addition to graduating from both of these institutions, Kerri also attended the Comedy Connection's improv classes and took advanced vocal training courses.

Kerri signed on as a VJ for MTV Asia, where her younger brother Mike had already been working. She joined him as the co-host of several shows, and sometimes manned them on her own. Some of the programs Kerri appeared on include Party Zone, Headbangers Ball, Most Wanted, and MTV Land.

Like her brother before her, Kerri became a huge star in Asia, and began traveling around the continent to host remote broadcasts and special shows in Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, and India. The Kasem siblings also worked on America's Funniest Home Videos for various foreign markets, as well as a pilot for the King World production of Extreme Trivia.

Upon her return to the U.S., Kerri hooked up with MTV and landed a gig co-hosting Senseless Acts of Video with extreme stuntman Troy Hartman. The program gave Kerri the opportunity to participate in some of her favorite activities, including snowboarding, skydiving, dirt biking, and bungee jumping. Her physical prowess made her the perfect host for another MTV production, the network's Sports & Music Festival.

In 2003, Kerri signed up to the ESPN reality show Beg, Borrow and Deal 2, which premiered in July of that year. Shortly thereafter, she was given hosting duties for SiTV's The Rub.

In addition to her television work, Kerri also anchors some syndicated radio programs. She does stand-up performances and sketches for All Comedy Radio and co-hosts the NASCAR show Racing Rocks! with Riki Rachtman.
