Camilla Belle Routh was born on October 2, 1986, in Los Angeles, California. The daughter of Brazilian fashion designer Christina and construction business owner Jack, Camilla Belle didn't waste any time getting into show business. At just 9 months old, she was chosen to headline a national print advertising campaign. As she got older, she was able to transplant her early success to television movies in the early '90s, with TV flicks like Deconstructing Sarah and Marshal Law with Jimmy Smits.

Camilla Belle continued her schooling at St. Paul the Apostle in L.A., but also made the acting jump from television roles to feature films. In 1995, future Harry Potter director Alfonso Cuaron cast her as an orphan in A Little Princess. Two years later, Steven Spielberg cast her as the little girl who gets mixed up with dinosaurs in the opening sequence of The Lost World: Jurassic Park. In 1998, Camilla Belle won two more roles in Practical Magic (as a young Sandra Bullock) and The Patriot as Steven Seagal's daughter.
